Some things begin with a simple idea and become something much bigger. That’s the story behind the first KidsWonderArt book—and the reason I’m excited to share the creative resources that come next.
A Rainbow of Shapes
In 2008, I created A Rainbow of Shapes after learning in kindergarten that my son was color deficient. Learning that was heartbreaking for me as his mom, and I wanted to find a creative way to help him learn without making him feel like there was something wrong with the way he saw the world.
I taught him to read the names printed on his crayons so he could learn what colors were called, even when he was seeing them differently. I also taught him shapes, and creating the book gave me something purposeful and positive to focus on. What began with a difficult moment became a book built around colors, shapes, creativity, and learning through play.
